Ahead of the UN Climate Conference in Copenhagen, ETH Sustainability has set the topic of Climate change and the role of Switzerland as its «Focus of the Year» in 2009.

A range of various activities address the challenges posed by the effects of climate change, with CO2 neutral energy and mobility systems as well as solutions for reducing CO2 emissions taking priority position.

The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) has launched a new kind of initiative against climate change. Climate-KIC is a community that comprises top European universities, prestigious companies and partners from the public sector. Radio DRS «Echo der Zeit» - Can the planet still be rescued?

On 7 December 2009, the renowned Swiss Radio DRS documentary programme «Echo der Zeit» was hosted by ETH Zurich and broadcasted live from the foyer of the ETH main building. UN Climate Change Conference – Success in Copenhagen?

In contrast to many media reports, a panel discussion held on 1 December 2009 created a uniquely positive mood: seldom had so many of the world's leading political figures participated in a climate summit meeting and seldom had the pressure and the conviction been so great to finally take a common step towards overcoming global climate change as on this occasion. >read more
