Michael Bürgi joined the ETH Sustainability Team in April 2011 and is responsible for the project platform seed sustainability. He initiates and coordinates projects with partner organisations from business and industry, local government and NGOs.

Michael Bürgi is a Science and Economic Historian. Following research assignments at the Institut d'Histoire de la Médecine et de la Santé at the University of Geneva (2003 to 2007) and at the Chair of History of Technology at ETH Zurich(2007 to 2010), he earned his Doctoral degree at the University of Basel.

In his research, Michael Bürgi is chiefly concerned with the relationship between science, business and society. In May 2011, his dissertation was published on the history of knowledge transfer between universities and the pharmaceuticals industry.

As an initiator and participant of a range of scientific and cultural projects, Michal Bürgi has gained many years of experience in interdisciplinary project management. Before he came to ETH, he was awarded a scientific political grant to work with two legislative commissions of the Federal Assembly: the Committees of Economic Affairs and Taxation and the Committees for Social Security and Health.
