An excerpt from the interview with Dr. Christine Bratrick and Prof. Ralph Eichler (from Umweltbericht der ETH Zürich 2008)

Frau Bratrich, what motivated you to accept the directorate for the new sustainability position, and what are your goals?

Bratrich: The ETH Zurich is globally one of the most important technical universities. The abundance of ideas and the diversity of the people who learn, teach and research here motivate me a lot. In addition, the theme of sustainability is part of ETH's strategic plan and my position is directly under the president. That gave me security that sustainability on the ETH Zurich was not lip service and that I can create change. My next goal is to make the theme of sustainability and the many exciting activities at the ETH Zurich more visible. I would like to encourage the network of engaged people at the ETH Zurich as well as integrate different educational and research cultures, so that the value increases for all. Important to me are also activities which are directly implemented at ETH Zurich, such as the development of Science City or student projects like 'ecoworks'.
